Basel, 6 March 2025 – Fondation Botnar is pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Urs Gasser to its Board with effect from 1 March 2025. A renowned expert on AI and digital governance, Urs Gasser is a Professor of Public Policy, Governance, and Innovative Technology, Rector of the Munich School of Politics and Public Policy, and Dean of the School of Social Sciences and Technology at the Technical University of Munich. His research focuses on the interactions between innovative technologies and society, particularly on the social and regulatory implications of AI, augmented and virtual reality, and quantum technologies.

Urs Gasser advises international organisations (i.e. OECD, UNICEF) and contributes to policy discussions at the World Economic Forum (WEF). He is a member of the US National Academies of Sciences Working Group on Generative AI and currently chairs the International Policy Advisory Panel on AI Governance of the Kingdom of Thailand.

Previously, he was Professor of Practice at Harvard Law School and Executive Director of the Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society from 2009-2021, where he remains a member of the Board of Directors. He has also been a visiting professor at the University of Zurich, Singapore Management University, the University of St. Gallen, and KEIO University in Japan.

Professor Urs Gasser zum neuen Mitglied des Stiftungsrats der Fondation Botnar ernannt

Basel, 6. März 2025 – Fondation Botnar freut sich, die Ernennung von Professor Urs Gasser in ihren Stiftungsrat per 1. März 2025 bekannt zu geben. Urs Gasser ist ein renommierter Experte für KI und digitale Governanz. Er ist Professor für Public Policy, Governance and Innovative Technology sowie Rektor der Hochschule für Politik und Dekan der School of Social Sciences and Technology an der Technischen Universität München. Seine Forschung konzentriert sich auf die Wechselwirkungen zwischen innovativen Technologien und der Gesellschaft, insbesondere auf die sozialen und regulatorischen Auswirkungen von KI, Augmented und Virtual Reality sowie von Quantentechnologien.

Urs Gasser berät internationale Organisationen (u.a. OECD, UNICEF) und nahm am Weltwirtschaftsforum (WEF) anan verschiedenen Diskussionen teil. Er ist Mitglied der Arbeitsgruppe Generative AI der US National Academies of Sciences und leitet derzeit den Internationalen Politikbeirat für AI Governance des Königreichs Thailand.

2009 bis 2021hielt Urs Gasser die Professur of Practice an der Harvard Law School inne und war Executive Director des Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society, bei welchem er weiterhin Mitglied des leitenden Gremiums ist. Er war zudem Gastprofessor an der Universität Zürich, der Singapore Management University, der Universität St. Gallen und der KEIO University in Japan.
