Andrea joined Fondation Botnar as CEO in September 2024. With over 20 years of experience in international development, she has a distinguished background at the Swiss Federal Department for Foreign Affairs (FDFA), particularly within the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC). Most recently, she served as Vice-Director and Ambassador, overseeing the Swiss Humanitarian Aid and Development Cooperation portfolio across Northern Africa, the Middle East, and Europe. Andrea has also worked with the United Nations Development Programme in Benin and holds degrees in social anthropology and sociology from the universities of Zürich and Sussex.
